Crafty Yarnz is all about sharing the joy, calm, and creativity of crochet, one stitch at a time.

Whether you’re brand new to the craft or rekindling an old hobby, we offer a modern, accessible approach to learning crochet that’s as inspiring as it is achievable. Our focus is on helping people build confidence with the hook, develop practical skills, and discover just how rewarding it is to make something with your own two hands.

A big part of that mission happens through our in-person crochet classes at Rutherford Community Education (West Auckland) and Selwyn Community Education (Central Auckland). These community-based courses are designed to bring people together — to learn, laugh, and grow through craft. From beginner sessions to more advanced techniques like amigurumi and corner-to-corner (C2C), our classes are structured to help students fall in love with crochet, find their rhythm, and keep that inspiration going well beyond the classroom.

Crafty Yarnz was created out of a lifelong passion for handmade creativity. Founder Amber learned to crochet at age 12 and has been hooked ever since. While she’s explored many creative paths, from cross stitch and cake decorating to wardrobe work in London’s theatre scene, crochet has always been the constant. It’s portable, calming, and endlessly adaptable. Most importantly, it creates space for rest, focus, and expression.
